When Prince Siddhartha was born, there was a great celebration in the palace and named him “Siddhartha Gautama” means who achieves his aim. In this naming ceremony, a hermit seer Asita journeyed from his mountain abode and announced that the child would be either a great emperor or a great saint on the fifth day of his birth. His father wished him to see him as a great emperor so he built three palaces for season occupation. And on the seventh day of his birth, Queen Maya Devi passed away. Siddhartha Gautama was raised by Maha Prajapati- her stepmother and his mother’s younger sister. When he was at the age of 16, his father arranged his marriage to a cousin of the same age named Yasodhara. They had a son Named “Rahula” and spend his life as a prince in Kapilvastu.
In his late 20s, he got the opportunity to get experience outside the palace. When the traveling he saw was the very old man, His Charioteer explained that every people who born have to get old someone’s day (Bajracharya, 2017). And he was excited to learn more about the outer world, so the move forward and he encountered a sick people, a decaying corpse, and an ascetic. The charioteer explained that the ascetic had renounced the world to seek release from the human fear of death and suffering. Listening to the true phenomenon of life and seeing miserable conditions made him depressed and he wanted to learn about the ways to overcome aging, sickness, and death by living the life of an ascetic. The next day, when he was at age 29, he left his wealthy kingdom, his wife, and son to experience and to know the universal suffering to every living kind.
According to various books, he explained that he had spent his six years as an ascetic life. He realized that meditation would be the right path to awakening. It is also believed that he practiced his new way of life with the other five ascetics and seeing him so dedicated that his five ascetics become his followers. And his effort and dedication doubled his effort, and start fasting which leads him to starvation and also start to refuse water. His effort didn’t bring his level of satisfaction he wanted. In this miserable condition, a lady named “Sujata” from a village gave him milk and rice pudding and he accepted. Then he realized that corporeal austerity was not the best way to achieve inner liberation living under harsh physical constraints to achieve spiritual release. The five ascetic followers decided that he had given up the ascetic life and decide not to follow so left him. However, Siddhartha was encouraged and made people follow a path of balance instead of characterized by extremism which is called the path of the middle way.
Siddhartha Gautam Entitled “Buddha”
Gautama Buddha seated under a Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya India. He decided not to wake until he didn’t get his answer and the truth. He meditated there for several days purifying his mind, seeing his entire life and his previous lives in his thoughts. In his meditation, he had to overcome the threats of Mara- an evil demon who challenged his right to become the Buddha. When Mara attempted to claim the enlightened state as his own, Siddhartha touched his hand to the ground and asked the Earth to bear witness to his enlightenment, which it did, banishing Mara ( biography, nd). Siddhartha finally saw the answer to the questions of suffering that he had been seeking for many years and the moment he became Buddha “he who is awake” He was at the age of 35 when he gained enlightenment.
Buddha hesitant to teach what he knew because it could not be communicated to others into the word plus he was concerned that humans are so overpowered by ignorance, has greed and selfishness and would not recognizes the path. Then the one of the great Hindu God Brahma arrives and convinced Buddha to teach so at least some people will understand his path. And start to teach as Brahma convinced.
