Patan Durbar Square is located at the center of the Lalitpur District of Nepal. Patan Durbar Square is situated approximately 5 km south of Kathmandu valley filled with a variety of Hindu Temples and Buddhist Temples created during the Ancient Newar community of Nepal.

Patan Durbar Square is a famous Durbar among three Durbars available in Kathmandu valley. Various ancient Newar residential houses are shaping beauty near the Durbar. Also, It is a center of both Hinduism and Buddhist temples estimated around 136 courtyards and other 55 major Temples. The city is also known as the “city of Fine Arts”. The place has great architectures, temples, sculptures, wood carving developed by Newar (Native People of Kathmandu Valley).
History of Patan Durbar Square
The history of Patan Durbar Square is not clear as various rulers come and created various temples and monuments. Although the Malla Kinds of Lalitpur are created with the establishment of the royal Squares. According to Historians, Patan was a prosperous city since ancient times.
Most of the current architectures were constructed in the 1600s during the reign of King Siddhi Narsingh Malla and his son Srinivasa Sukriti. There are also other important temples constructed during other Malla Kings- Prandarasimha, Sivasimha Malla, Yoganarendra Malla.
Major Attraction of Patan Durbar Square
Krishna Temple is one famous temple near Patan Durbar Square which was built during the 17th century dedicated to Hindu God Lord Krishna. It is only the temple in Nepal to have 21 shrines and designed with stones.
